ALL Aspects Recruitment are seeking a hands on and committed Assistant Farm Manager to join its newly established potato operation in Katherine, NT. This position is ideal for someone with cropping, machine operations and/or mechanical experience - ideally with exposure to potatoes or other root crops.
Remuneration:
- Base Salary: $100,000 to $150,000 (dependant on experience)
- Accommodation: On farm 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house provided
- Transport: Vehicle Included
- Relocation: Case by Case Basis
Key Accountabilities
- Preparing the soil, tiling, planting, fertilising and harvesting the crops.
- Coordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and labourers
- Carry out and oversee the planting program
- Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations
- Planting program is delivered as per instruction from the Operations Manager
- Coordinate seed production and seed sourcing, purchase and inventory
- Coordinate the repair and maintenance of all fertigation, spreading and spray equipment
- Responsible for the calibration of all fertigation, spreading and spray equipment
- Report to Operations Manager of water usage versus issued licence quotas
- Maintain quality control and production records
- Evaluate compatible break crops
- Maintain ground soil sustainability
- All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives.
Required Experience / Qualifications
- Diploma in a relevant field plus at least 1 year of relevant experience or at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in a horticultural operations / farm management.
- Experience in the management of potato, carrot, and onion crops (desirable).
- Basic mechanical knowledge and experience working with large scale agricultural machinery.
- Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence (essential).
- Chemical User Certificate Accreditation (essential).
- Forklift license (essential).
- HC license (essential).
- Cultural adaptability and a willingness to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to undertake manual, and sometimes physical work.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions.
- A willingness to be hands on and participate in a broad range of duties, a strong work ethic is essential.
