The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading Queensland Government Department  through the transition to a new Queensland Government finance platform, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud from SAP ECC6. This project will sit under the broader Queensland Shared Services (QSS)-led Finance Modernisation Program which will see a total of 21 Queensland Government agencies transition to this new, modernised, cloud-based finance system.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with business areas and/or business owners and other Queensland Government agencies to ensure alignment, progress tracking, and shared ownership of outcomes
  • Engage and build strong relationships with relevant executives, subject matter experts, and other key stakeholders to ensure their engagement and meaningful contribution to implementation of S/4HANA
  • Lead the project and deliver high level communication and documentation to project sponsors and other key stakeholders, ensuring they are briefed on project objectives, milestones and progress 
  • Develop, prepare and deliver project activities using existing project management methodologies (Prince2/Agile), governance and decision-making frameworks including approved program management plan, project initiation documents, communication, change and engagement strategies
  • Manage risks and issues that may impact on the successful implementation of the project, including timely escalation within a well-managed governance framework
  • Monitor, promote and document the realisation of benefits of the initiative
  • Deliver project artefacts or reports related to the consultation, findings and recommendations undertaken by the project
  • Manage preparation of complex submissions and reports, plans, highlight reports, briefing notes, presentations and correspondence for a diverse range of stakeholders

The essential role requirements are:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management
  • Experience in leading projects related to the development and implementation of financial system solutions
  • Experience in progress reporting and related artefacts within government agencies
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills to build and maintain strategic relationships and achieve outcomes from diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in project definition and delivery planning
  • Experience in leading reform or transformational change activities within an organisation
  • Ability to assess, manage, and propose solutions for complex issues and/or risks to enable the achievement of the organisation’s priorities and objectives

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Business Analysis, Project Management, Information Systems or similar qualification
